This mornings class began with Elaine telling us a bit about herself and her experience. She has such a wide range of skills, she seems to have varied interests and abilities, I wonder if this is why she was chosen to take the class. This would seem like the sensible option, although I still wish Johanna could be involved in the organisation as she has current and relevant experience which I think could be very beneficial.
We then went on to do a couple of questionaires. The first was a time management questionaire, my score wasn't great but then, that's probably because, quite frankly, I'm crap at it. The second questionaire was a team roles inventory, this sugested how we fit inot a team. It transpired that I am a shaper (Highly strung, out-going, and dynamic) and an implementor (Conservative, dutiful and predicatable). I'm not sure how acurate these are but I'll be sure to keep it in mind.
After discussing the results of the questionaires and writing down a list of our qualities we went on to discuss plans for the fashion show. The team will be split into four groups; creative, admin, research and financial. homework for next week is to choose which team we would like to be in, why we would like to be in it and what we have to offer the role.
Pattern Cutting
THe first half of pattern cutting was spent finishing off the paper pattern for our jacket. It was mostly finished but seam allowances had to be altered. Whilst we were doing it I was telling Anne about my little blog. She seemed quite interested and asked where it was. "on the internet" I said, I thought poor Anne was a bit of a computer Dinasaur, bless her. It turns out she new fine well that blogs were on the internet and was interested to know what site it was on and if it was public. Egg on my face me thinks.
After lunch the fun really started. We were all given a piece of paper and had to pair up
to draw round each other onto the piece of paper. This resulted in us getting a better idea of differeing body shapes. It was very effecitive, and bloody hilarious, not least for the rather risque moments of having another ladies hands between your legs trying to draw the lines up your leg. Once we had finished drawing around each other and making notes of our weird and wonderful body shapes, we drew outfit on each others bodys (paper body's I mean)now we could have done lovely ball gowns or high fashion, bit oh no. Laura decides I would be much bette suited to being a hooker. A BLOODY HOOKER!!. Hilarious. Hoop earings knee high furry boots and cigarette hanging out of my mouth to boot. Retaliation was inevitable. She looked great as a dodgy elvis impersonator. Dodgy rubber elvis wig, ope top catsuit with belt, and lovely chest hair protruding from the open front. I even drew her a lovely mcdonalds meal beside her.
Well fun day over. Had to go home. Look forward to sewing class tomorrow with Maggie, and store layout with Elizabeth. I miss Sandra!!!!
